Black women are amazing

Love Letters to the Black Woman (LLBW) is a show that comes from a place of admiration.  Black women are utterly amazing, breathtakingly beautiful, doggedly determined, extremely resilient, and yet, underappreciated.   LLBW is a show that endeavors to rectify that problem by showing black women the attention they deserve.

The show's creator and performer is spoken word poet and African American History professor Rudy Jean-Bart.  His poetry is accompanied by an extremely talented band.  The show also features videos of black women discussing the subject matter of the poems.  This multi-artistic show engages the audience through spell bounding spoken word, captivating videos, and excellent musicianship.

LLBW is a part of a broader movement that is designed to not only show adoration for black women, but also to promote healing between black men and black women.  The creator of LLB believes that it is important for black men to show greater appreciation for black women and endeavors to do this through artistic expressions, fashion, blogging, and engaging conversation.

“Black women inspire me more than anything on this earth.”
